LADY CHARGERS ELIMINATED FROM CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS

(5/2/14) The Dominican College softball team, the sixth seed, was eliminated today from the 2014 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships this afternoon after falling to #2 Georgian Court University, 10-5, in an elimination game. In their first game of the day, DC eliminated the top seed, Caldwell College, 9-5.

In their first game of the day, DC eliminated the top seed, Caldwell College, 9-5.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth when the Lady Chargers struck for five runs. Pitcher Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) got the scoring going with a sacrifice fly ball to center field and senior Paige Berzak* (Cypress, Calif.) followed with an RBI single to right center. With two outs and two one, shortstop Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring to left field and pinch hitter Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) delivered a two-run double down the left field line for the Lady Charger fourth and fifth run of the inning.
Dominican added two more runs in the fifth on the RBI single to left field by Hogan and the bunt single off the bat of Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) brought home another run and made the score 7-0. The Cougars came back with a run in the bottom stanza and put four runs on the board in the seventh to cut the deficit to 7-5.
The Lady Chargers added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh as Hogan blasted a two run homer over the center field fence for the final 9-5 victory.
Hogan went 2-3 with four RBIs in the victory and picked up the win in 6 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on eight innings.
Game Two: The Lions scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to quickly take the 5-0 advantage. DC countered in the third inning as they scored five runs on three consecutive hits. Catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) hit an RBI single to right field and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) followed with an infield single to bring home a run. Hogan then hit her second home run on the day, this one a three-run shot to left field to tie the game at 5-5.
GCU got the lead back in the bottom of the third with two more runs, added two more in the fourth and scored their final run in the fifth en route to the 10-5 win.
Hogan went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs, while Haukap had a team leading three hits.
Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) took the loss in two innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on four hits.
Dominican ends the season with an overall record of 20-27.
