ECAC ANNOUNCES 2014 DIVISION II SOFTBALL ALL-STAR TEAMS AND MAJOR AWARD WINNERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (6/5/14) The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2014 Division II Softball All-Stars yesterday and Dominican College freshman Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif) is one of the major award winners as she was chosen as the Rookie of the Year. The voting was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division II Softball membership.

The voting was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division II Softball membership.
Long Island University Post battery-mates, junior catcher Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) and senior pitcher Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) were selected as the Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
Collins completed her freshman season for the Lady Chargers with a .302 batting average, 20 RBI and 15 extra-base hits. She recorded a team-high 12 doubles, legged out a pair of triples and hit one home run, while also swiping seven bases to lead Dominican. The First Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) selection helped lead the Chargers to a 20-win season and a berth in the CACC Tournament.
Teammate Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) was named to the All-Star First Team. A sophomore utlility player/pitcher from Lawrenceville, N.J., made her second consecutive First Team appearance in 2014. She ranked in the top twenty in the conference in triples, home runs, runs batted in. hits, runs scored, at bats, total bases, appearances, wins, saves, complete games, shut outs and innings pitched. She finished second on the team in batting average, doubles, triples and home runs. Ragazzo led the teams in runs batted in and hits.
