SOFTBALL SWEPT BY STONEHILL COLLEGE

Clermont, Fla. (3/12/15)  The Dominican College softball team lost a non-conference double-header to Stonehill College, 4-3 and 4-0, this afternoon in games played at the National Training Center.

Game One:  The Skyhawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single and a three-run homer.  Dominican got a run back in the third inning on the RBI double off the bat of Ariana Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.) and added two more in the sixth inning as Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit an RBI ground out and sophomore Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) hit a solo home run for what would be the final 4-3 score.

Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) and MacKenzie Wise (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded the other two hits for the Lady Chargers.

Freshman Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) suffered the loss (0-1), allowing four runs on seven hits and five strikeouts.

Game Two: In the night cap, the Skyhawk pitching limited the Lady Chargers to just two hits, one from Haukap and the other from Collins in the 4-0 loss.

Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) suffered the loss (0-2), allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and six strikeouts.

Following the games, the Lady Chargers now stand at 1-3 on the season.

Dominican is back in action tomorrow as they take on LIU Post University in a non-conference double-header at the Saint Leo University tournament.
