LADY CHARGERS LOSE TWO AT SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY MARCH INVITE

Saint Leo, Fla. (3/13/15)  The Dominican College softball team lost two games this afternoon in the first day of the Saint Leo University March Invite hosted by the Saint Leo University softball team at University Softball Stadium.  DC fell to LIU Post, 1-0 in the first game and 8-4 in the night cap.

With the losses, the Lady Chargers fall to 1-5 overall on the season.

Game One:  The Pioneers scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI base hit to left field.

Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) had the only extra base hit of the game with a double.  Brianna Arends (Staten Island, N.Y.), Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) and Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) each recorded a single in the game.

Madison Dove (Cypress, Calif.) took the complete game loss, allowing one run on three hits and two strikeouts.

Game Two: LIU Post led 1-0 after one inning, but the Lady Chargers rallied with three runs in the second to claim a 3-1 advantage.  With the bases loaded, Collins was hit by a pitch to bring home a run and Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed with a single to center field to plate two more runs.

The Pioneers tied the contest with two runs in the third, but Dominican regained the lead at 4-3 with a run in the fourth on an RBI groundout off the bat of Regan.

LIU Post rallied with a run in the fifth and sixth innings and followed with three runs in the top half of the seventh to pull ahead 8-4.

Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) went 2 2/3 innings in the no decision, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits.

Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) suffered the loss in 4 1/3 innings of relief, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and four strikeouts.

Dominican is back in action tomorrow at Saint Leo University as they take on Queens College and the host.
