SOFTBALL BLANKS NYACK COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/13/15)  The Dominican College softball team blanked host, Nyack College, 11-0 and 9-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the South Orangetown Little League Field.

With the sweep, Dominican improves to 19-13 overall and 11-3 in conference play.

Game One:  Dominican score runs in the first four innings en route to the 11-0 five inning victory.

Freshman shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) got things going with a two-run over to left field in the first inning.  In the second stanza Ariana Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.) had an RBI ground out and catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) followed with an RBI single.  Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) followed with another RBI single and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) brought her home on a triple for a 5-0 advantage.

Dominican added four more runs in the third as MacKenzie Wise (Middletown, N.Y.) and Collins had run-scoring singles.  Haukap highlighted the inning with a two-run triple.  Trembone made the score 11-0 in the fourth with an RBI single.

Four different Lady Chargers had two hits each in the win, while Haukap led the team with three RBIs.

Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) got the complete game shut out victory, scattering just two hits and recording six strikeouts.

Game Two:  Dominican led 5-0 after three innings of play and added four runs in their half of the fifth inning en route to the 9-0 five inning victory.

Collins went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, including a two out solo home run in the first inning.

Haukap, Schwed, Regan and Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) all collected two hits in the win, while Regan had three RBIs.

Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) got the shut out win in five innings of work, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.
