COUGARS SNAP SOFTBALL'S WINNING STREAK

Caldwell, N.J. (4/16/15)  The Caldwell University softball team, currently the top team in the East Region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College in games played at Caldwell Field.

Game One:  The Lady Chargers opened up scoring in the first inning on an RBI single up-the-middle off the bat of Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.).  Three batters later Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) hit an infield single and a throwing error by the shortstop would allow two more runs to score and extend the lead to 3-0.

The Cougars would respond with four runs in the second to take a 4-3 lead.  The Lady Chargers would strike again in the third when Shiebler singled through the left side to bring home a run and tie the game at 4-4.

Caldwell would again take a one run lead in the fourth to make the score 5-4 and would increase their lead to a 6-4 advantage in the sixth stanza.

Shiebler had two hits in the loss.

Starter Madison Dove (Cypress, Calif.) went 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.

Game Two:  Dominican struck first in game two with a two-run first inning as left fielder Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) delivered a single to the left side to plate a run and Shiebler followed with a run-scoring single up-the-middle.

Caldwell scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and continued to put runs on the board over the next five of six innings en route to the 10-2 six inning victory.

Shiebler went 2-2 with an RBI in the loss.

Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) took the loss (9-4) in 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on three hits and two strikeouts.

Dove came in to pitch the next three innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits.  Larsen pitched one stanza and allowed two runs on three hits.
