LADY CHARGERS UPEND CONCORDIA COLLEGE

Bronxville, N.Y. (4/19/15)  The Dominican College softball team went on the road and swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Concordia College, in games played today at Clipper Softball Field.  DC won game one, 2-1 and took the night cap, 6-0.

With the sweep, Dominican improves to 25-15 overall and 17-5 in CACC play.

Game One:  The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when the Lady Chargers struck for two runs.  Designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) produced the two out double to left field to bring home two runs and give DC the 2-0 lead.

Concordia scored a run in the seventh for the final 2-1 score.

Shiebler went 2-3 in the game with two RBIs to lead the Lady Charger offense.

Madison Dove (Cypress, Calif.) picked up the complete game victory (11-5), allowing one run on two hits and five strikeouts.

Game Two:  Dominican scored a run in the second as Shiebler hit an RBI single up-the-middle and added two more in the third on a single to center field off the bat of shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and an RBI fielder's choice from Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) to put DC up, 3-0.

The Lady Chargers scored their fourth run of the game in the fourth stanza on the sacrifice fly ball to right field from catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.)  DC tacked on two more runs in the seventh on a passed ball and an infield single from Shiebler en route to the 6-0 victory.

Shiebler went 3-4 in the game with two RBIs.

Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) had two hits, while Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) scored two runs.

Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) got the complete game shut out win, scattering five hits and striking out five.
