Lakewood, N.J. (5/2/15)  The #2 Dominican College softball team fell to #1 Caldwell University, 5-2, this afternoon in the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championship game played on the campus of Georgian Court University.

The Cougars scored runs in the second and third innings to go ahead 2-0.

Dominican got a run back in the top of the fourth as Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) scored on a Cougar error to cut the lead to a run.  Caldwell answered in the bottom stanza with three more runs to pull ahead 5-1.

Junior catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) hit a two out RBI double to left center field to bring home MacKenzie Wise (Middletown, N.Y.) for the final 5-2 score.

Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) took the loss (7-7), allowing five runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings of work.  Madison Dove (Cypress, Calif.) came in for the final 2/3 of an inning.

Larsen, Haukap and center fielder Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) were all named to the All-CACC Tournament Team.

Dominican now stands at 33-19 on the season.

The team will await a possible at-large berth in the upcoming NCAA East Regional Tournament.
