ERAU EAGLES SWEEP LADY CHARGERS
Daytona Beach, Fla. (2/23/16) The Dominican College softball team suffered a double-header sweep by host, Embry-Riddle, this evening in non-conference games played at ERU Softball Stadium. The Eagles defeated the Lady Chargers 10-2 in the first game and took the night cap, 8-5.

Daytona Beach, Fla. (2/23/16) The Dominican College softball team suffered a double-header sweep by host, Embry-Riddle, this evening in non-conference games played at ERU Softball Stadium. The Eagles defeated the Lady Chargers 10-2 in the first game and took the night cap, 8-5.
Game One: The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Chargers would come back to tie the score on a one-out two-run homer over the centerfield fence off the bat of left fielder Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) in the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
Embry-Riddle would counter in the bottom frame with six runs and add two more in the fourth en route to the 10-2 win in five innings.
Collins and catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) each had two hits.
Starter Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) took the loss (1-2) in 2 1/3 innings of work, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits. Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) pitched the remaining 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits.
Game Two: Embry-Riddle opened the night cap with a run in the bottom of the second stanza, but DC would get the run back in their half of the third as Haukap hit a two out single and scored as Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) reached on a throwing error which allowed Haukap to score.
The Eagles would score four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to regain a 7-1 lead. The Lady Chargers got two runs back in the sixth on back-to-back RBI singles from Brianna Espino (Holland, Ohio) and Victoria Brooks (Bear, Del.). Dominican would bring home another two runs in the top of the seventh, one on a fielder's choice from Jillian Regan and the other on an infield single from Espino for the final 8-5 score.
Espino and Collins collected three hits a-piece in the loss, while Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) had two hits.
Starter Emily Larsen* (Midlothian, Ill.) took the loss (0-2) in 3 2/3 innings of work, allowing five runs on 10 hits.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, while Joines came in for the final inning.
With the losses, the Lady Chargers now stand at 1-6 on the season.
DC will take on Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow afternoon.
