SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/9/16) The Dominican College softball team won a 2-0 decision this afternoon in non-conference action against St. Thomas Aquinas College in a game played at the DC Softball Field. Freshman hurler Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) earned her first no hitter of the season in the win.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/9/16) The Dominican College softball team won a 2-0 decision this afternoon in non-conference action against St. Thomas Aquinas College in a game played at the DC Softball Field. Freshman hurler Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) earned her first no hitter of the season in the win.
Dominican got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning as freshman third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) hit a lead off home run over the centerfield fence. The Lady Chargers added a run in the fifth on a Spartan throwing error which allowed a run to come home for the 2-0 final score.
Joines posted a career high eight strikeouts and allowed only one walk to improve to 2-2 on the season.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 2-6 on the season.
The team returns to the diamond on Saturday afternoon when they host non-conference opponent, Southern Connecticut State University, at 12pm on the DC Softball Field.
