LADY CHARGERS SPLIT WITH SPARTANS
Sparkill, N.Y. (3/18/16) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, in game played today at Spartan Field. Dominican won the opening game 9-3, while the Spartans took game two, 51.

Sparkill, N.Y. (3/18/16) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, in game played today at Spartan Field. Dominican won the opening game 9-3, while the Spartans took game two, 51.
Game One: The opener saw the Lady Charger offense scored nine runs on 10 hits, while blasting three home runs in the win.
Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) went 2-2 in the win with three RBIs, while Arianna Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) also had two hits.
Shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded two RBIs.
Dominican scored three runs in the top of the first on back-to-back home runs from Regan and Gillian.
DC added three more in the sixth as pinch hitter Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) had an RBI single, followed by back-to-back run-scoring singles off the bats of Trembone and Luzetsky to increase the lead to 6-1.
Three more runs came home in the seventh as catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) led off the inning with a solo home run and three batters later Gilligan produced a two-run double.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) improved to 5-2 in the complete game victory, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and five strikeouts.
Game Two: In the night cap, the Spartans put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Dominican got a run back in the top of the second on the run-scoring single by second basemen Victoria Brooks (Bear, Del.) that allowed Brianna Espino (Holland, Ohio) to come home.
STAC added a run in the third and brought home two more runs in the fifth for the 5-1 win.
Third basemen Gilligan had two hits in the loss.
Emily Larsen* (Midlothian, Ill.) suffered the loss (2-3) in two innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three strikeouts
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) allowed two runs (none earned) on three hits in four innings of work.
With the split, the Lady Chargers now stand at 8-7 on the season.
Dominican returns to conference play tomorrow afternoon as they host Georgian Court University in a twin bill slated to begin at 1pm on the DC Softball Field.
