SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Albany, N.Y. (3/22/16) The Dominican College softball team won two games this afternoon against the College of Saint Rose in non-conference action played at Cathy Haker Field. The Lady Chargers won game one by the score of 8-2 and took the night cap, 11-2 in five innings.

Albany, N.Y. (3/22/16) The Dominican College softball team won two games this afternoon against the College of Saint Rose in non-conference action played at Cathy Haker Field. The Lady Chargers won game one by the score of 8-2 and took the night cap, 11-2 in five innings.
With the wins, Dominican improves to 12-8 on the season.
Game One: The Golden Knights struck first with a run in the first inning, but the Lady Chargers came back to tie the score in the third as designated player Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) doubled home a run.
Saint Rose regained a 2-1 advantage in the bottom half of the third inning and maintained that lead until the fifth when Dominican brought home two runs as catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) led off the inning with a solo home run and later Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) had an RBI single up-the-middle to give the team a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Chargers added four more runs in the sixth as Collins and Gilligan produced a two-run double and a two-run infield single to increase the lead to 7-2.
The last DC run came in the seventh on the run-scoring single off the bat of Haukap.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) picked up the complete game victory (8-3), allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits.
Game Two: Dominican scored runs in each of the five innings in the 11-2 night cap win.
Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) blasted a three-run home run over the left field fence in the first inning, while Collins delivered a two-run shot over the right field fence in the fourth frame.
Collins went 3-4 with four RBIs, while Haukap also had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) went 3-4 with four runs scored and Regan went 3-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Jenna Maska (Wrentham, Mass.) got the win (2-1), allowing two runs on eight hits.
Dominican returns to action next Monday as they travel to non-conference foe, Molloy College.
