#24 COUGARS TAKE TWINBILL FROM LADY CHARGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/31/16) The #24 Caldwell University Cougars swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball double-header from host, Dominican College, in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. The Cougars won the first game, 9-1 in five innings and took the night cap, 1-0.

(3/31/16) The #24 Caldwell University Cougars swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball double-header from host, Dominican College, in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. The Cougars won the first game, 9-1 in five innings and took the night cap, 1-0.
Game One: Caldwell scored two runs in the first and second stanzas for the early 4-0 lead. Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the second as designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) singled down the right field line to bring home Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.).
The Cougars solidified the win with a five-run third inning for the 9-1 victory.
Starter Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) took the loss (8-5) in one and two thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits.
Game Two: The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when the Cougars got a one out solo home run over the left field fence for the 1-0 lead and eventual win.
DC threatened to score in the final frame as the first two runners got on base, but a pick-off and two pop ups ended the game.
Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) suffered the loss (3-2), allowing one run on eight hits and two strikeouts.
With the sweep, the Lady Chargers now stand at 13-11 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Dominican is scheduled to host Wilmington University this coming Saturday.
