LADY CHARGERS TAKE TWO FROM RAMS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/10/16) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers took the first game, 5-3 and one the night cap, 4-1.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/10/16) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers took the first game, 5-3 and one the night cap, 4-1.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 18-11-1 overall and 10-3 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first as third basemen Taylor Gillgian (Medford, N.J.) hit an RBI single to right field for the early 1-0 lead.
DC added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth as first basemen Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) produced a run-scoring ground out and later pinch hitter Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to bring home another run. Catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) followed with a single up-the-middle to bring home Victoria Brooks (Bear, Del.). Desginated player Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) had a two out RBI single up-the-middle to increase the lead to 5-0.
Philadelphia scored three runs in the top of the seventh for the final 5-3 score.
Centerfielder Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) had two hits in the win.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) improved to 11-5 on the season in the complete game victory, allowing three runs on four hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: Haukap broke the game open in the bottom of the second stanza as she belted a grand slam over the center field fence for the early 4-0 lead.
The Rams scored a run in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice for the final 4-1 score.
Collins collected three hits in the win, while Truppi finished with two hits.
Haukap had a game leading four runs batted in.
Starter Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) picked up the win (4-2) in 4 2/3 innings of work, allowing one run on eight hits and two strikeouts.
Reliever Emily Larsen* (Midlothian, Ill.) earned her third save of the year after recording three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of work.
DC is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they host Nyack College.
