MASKA THROWS NO HITTER TO COMPLETE SWEEP OF GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Wilmington, Del. (4/14/16) Sophomore pitcher Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) threw her first no hitter of the season to pick up an 8-0 victory this afternoon as the Dominican College softball team completed a sweep over Goldey-Beacom College. Dominican won the first game, 12-0 in five innings, of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) twinbill.

Dominican won the first game, 12-0 in five innings, of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) twinbill.
With the win Dominican, currently ranked eighth in the NCAA Division II East Region Rankings, improves to 22-13-1 overall and 14-3 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers exploded for four runs in the top of the first on three consecutive hits. Taylor Gilligan (Meford, N.J.) doubled home two runs, followed by a double from Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) to make it 3-0. Designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) then produced a run-scoring single to center field.
DC added three runs in the fourth on the RBI single to center field off the bat of Gilligan, a GBC fielding error and an infield single from Arianna Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.).
Dominican tacked on five more runs in the fifth on six hits. Left fielder Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) got things going with a run-scoring single through the right side. Shiebler followed three batters later with a single to left center to plate a run and Victoria Brooks (Bear, Del.) added an RBI single to right field. Right fielder Brianna Arends* (Raritan, N.J.) delivered a two-run single to right field for the 12-0 lead.
Five different batters had two hits in the victory.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) improved to 13-6 on the season with the shut out win, scattering three hits and two strikeouts.
Game Two: Maska (6-3) fanned three in the seven inning shut out victory.
The Lady Chargers got on the board in the second on the solo home run to left field from Gilligan.
Dominican added two more runs in the fourth as center fielder Caitlyn Hults (Carlstadt, N.J.) had a run-scoring infield single and Haukap followed with a sacrifice fly ball to right field to bring home the third run of the game.
DC plated five runs in the top of the seventh for the 8-0 win. Gilligan executed a squeeze bunt to bring home a run and later Brooks brought in a run with a single through the left side. Hults later got a one out RBI single to center field and Haukap followed with an RBI single to right field. Pinch hitter Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) produced an RBI ground out for the last Lady CHarger run.
Hults finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.
Five other Lady Chargers had two hits.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday as they travel to Chestnut Hill College.
