LADY CHARGERS END REGULAR SEASON WITH SWEEP OVER CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/24/16) The Dominican College softball team ended the regular season with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Concordia College this afternoon in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won the first game, 5-2 and won the finale, 2-0 to improve their overall record to 30-14-1 and their CACC record to 22-4.

(4/24/16) The Dominican College softball team ended the regular season with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Concordia College this afternoon in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won the first game, 5-2 and won the finale, 2-0 to improve their overall record to 30-14-1 and their CACC record to 22-4.
Game One: DC struck first in the bottom of the first inning when third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) singled to left field and brought home senior catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.)
Dominican added a run in the second as Haukap doubled home Shannon Truppi* (Little Ferry, N.J.) for the 2-0 lead. Concordia tied the game in the third on back-to-back hits.
The Lady Chargers regained the lead in fifth on back-to-back home runs off the bats of Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) and Gilligan to go ahead 5-2.
Haukap, Gilligan and Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) all had two hits in the win.
Emily Larsen* (Midlothian, Ill.) got the win in four innings of relief, recording two strikeouts and two hits.
Game Two: The Lady Charger offense once again produced a run in the bottom of the first as Gilligan singled through the right side to plate Collins.
Gilligan increased the lead to 2-0 in the third with a single up-the-middle to bring Haukap home and give Dominican the 2-0 lead.
Pitcher Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) had a no-hitter going up until the top of the seventh when the Clippers hit a double. She improved to 9-4 on the season in the complete game shut out victory. She allowed just one hit and struck out four batters.
Dominican finishes the regular season in second place and will play this coming Thursday in the CACC Tournament.
Following the games, the team honored seniors; #7 Brianna Arends (Staten Island, N.Y.), #28 Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) and #73 Haukap.
