#2 LADY CHARGERS ELIMINATED FROM CACC TOURNAMENT
Lakewood, N.J. (4/28/16) The #2 Dominican College softball team was eliminated today in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championships hosted by Georgian Court University. Dominican fell to #7 Bloomfield College, 3-1 in 8 innings and was eliminated from the tournament following a 6-2 loss to #6 Concordia College.

(4/28/16) The #2 Dominican College softball team was eliminated today in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championships hosted by Georgian Court University. Dominican fell to #7 Bloomfield College, 3-1 in 8 innings and was eliminated from the tournament following a 6-2 loss to #6 Concordia College.
Game One: The game was scoreless through seven innings of play when the Bears struck for three runs on a single down the left field line and a two-run double to right field to go in front, 3-0.
Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a walk and following a strikeout, shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) received a free pass to put two runners on. Designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) singled to right field to bring home Collins to bring DC within two runs, 3-1. The Bears got out of the inning by getting the next batter to ground into a double play to end the game.
Catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) had two hits in the loss.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) suffered the loss in 7 2/3 innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits and one strikeout.
Game Two: The Clippers took an early lead with two runs in the first inning, but Dominican got a run back in the bottom frame on a single to left center field off the bat of third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.).
DC tied the score in the second as Haukap singled through the left side to bring home left fielder Brianna Espino (Holland, Ohio).
The score remained 2-2 until the top of the fifth when the Clippers scored four runs on one hit and two Lady Charger errors to regain a 6-2 lead.
The Concordia pitcher did not allow a hit in Dominican's remaining three at-bats to secure the 6-2 win.
Haukap also collected two hits in the game.
Reliever Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the loss in 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on one hit and three strikeouts.
With the losses, the Lady Chargers end their season with an overall record of 30-16-1.
