SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH MERRIMACK COLLEGE
Clermont, Fla. (3/12/17) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with Merrimack College in games played this afternoon. Merrimack rallied to win game one, 4-3, while the Lady Chargers took the night cap, 7-5.

Clermont, Fla. (3/12/17) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with Merrimack College in games played this afternoon. Merrimack rallied to win game one, 4-3, while the Lady Chargers took the night cap, 7-5.
Game One: The Lady Chargers struck first with a run of the single by Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) and would increase the lead to 3-1 in the fourth stanza as Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) hit back-to-back run scoring singles.
MC countered with a three-run fifth frame for the 4-3 win.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) suffered the loss (0-1) in five and 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) came in for the final one and 2/3 innings.
Game Two: Dominican scored three runs in the first and second innings to jump ahead, 6-2. Gilligan produced a two-run double, followed by Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) who hit a run-scoring single.
In the second junior Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring bunt single, followed by a triple to right field to plate a run off the bat of Regan. Ledgerwood then hit a bunt single to bring home a run and make the score 6-2.
A home run in the fifth by Gilligan increased the lead to 7-4 en route to the 7-5 win.
Gilligan went 4-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the win.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) picked up the win in four innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits.
