DOMINICAN SPLITS WITH PACE UNIVERSITY
Clermont, Fla. (3/13/17) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with Pace University in games played today at the National Training Center. The Lady Chargers took the opener, 9-5, while the Setters came away with the 1-0 win in game two.

Clermont, Fla. (3/13/17) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double-header with Pace University in games played today at the National Training Center. The Lady Chargers took the opener, 9-5, while the Setters came away with the 1-0 win in game two.
Game One: Dominican used a seven run sixth inning to rally from a 4-2 deficit en route to the win.
Pace led 2-0 after one inning of play, but Dominican got on the board in the second as designated player, Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) hit a solo home run over the center field fence. DC tied the game in the fourth on a Setter throwing error.
In the sixth, Dominican scored seven runs on sixth hits to take the lead. Right fielder Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) singled through the right side to bring home a run, while Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) later followed with a two-run triple and Taylor Daniels (Watervilet, N.Y.) added an RBI double through the left side.
Junior Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) contributed with two-run single and Fitzgerald picked up her second RBI of the inning with a bases loaded walk. Pace scored a run in the bottom frame for the final 9-5 score.
Schwed went 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the win.
Collins and Fitzgerald also had two RBIs.
Senior Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) recorded her first win of the season in two and 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits.
Starter Desiree Joines (Stewartsown, Pa.) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and four strikeouts.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) came in for the final one and 1/3 innings.
Game Two: The night cap was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when the Setters were able to bring home a run on a two out single for the 1-0 win.
Fitzgerald hit a two out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh to put the tying run on-base but was unable to score.
Joines falls to 0-2 on the season in the complete game loss, allowing one run on four hits.
The Lady Chargers now stand at 3-2 on the season.
