SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM EDINBORO UNIVERSITY
Clermont, Fla. (3/15/17) The Dominican College softball team swept a non-conference double-header from Edinboro University in games played this afternoon at the National Training Center. The Lady Chargers won the first game, 3-0, and took the night cap, 9-3.

Clermont, Fla. (3/15/17) The Dominican College softball team swept a non-conference double-header from Edinboro University in games played this afternoon at the National Training Center. The Lady Chargers won the first game, 3-0, and took the night cap, 9-3.
With the sweep Dominican improves to 5-4 on the season.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Chargers struck for three runs. Designated player Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) hit a two-run double to left center field and center fielder Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) produced a squeeze bunt to bring home the third run.
First basemen Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) had two hits in the win.
Junior Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) improved to 1-3 on the season in her first no-hitter of the season and collecting eight strikeouts.
Game Two: In the night cap, DC put a run on the board in the first inning as Ledgerwood singled home a run through the left side.
Dominican added three runs in the second on an error and back-to-back bunts by Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) and Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.).
The Fighting Scots countered with three runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Lady Chargers added two runs in the fourth on a triple to right center field off the bat of Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) and a sacrifice bunt from Fitzgerald to rebuild a 6-3 lead.
DC brought home three more runs in the seventh stanza as pinch hitter Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) produced a two-run double to left center field and Luzetsky brought her home with a double for the ifnal 9-3 win.
Luzetsky, Fitzgerald and Ledgerwood all had two hits in the win, while Luzetsky, Siess and Fitzgerald each had two RBIs.
Reliever Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) got the win in four innings of work, collecting 10 strikeouts andd scattering three hits.
