DC SOFTBALL LOSES TWO AT NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER GAMES
Clermont, Fla. (3/17/17) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games this morning at the National Training Center Games. DC fell to West Chester University, 6-4, in eight innings in the first game and then dropped a 3-1 decision to Kutztown University.

Clermont, Fla. (3/17/17) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games this morning at the National Training Center Games. DC fell to West Chester University, 6-4, in eight innings in the first game and then dropped a 3-1 decision to Kutztown University.
Game One: The Golden Rams scored a run in the top of the first for the early lead, but the Lady Chargers countered with a two-run second frame on a single to left field by shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and senior Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) reached on an error that allowed a run to come home.
WCUPA tied the game in the third, but DC regained the 3-2 edge in the bottom stanza as Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) scored on an error. The Golden Rams re-tied the score in the sixth and force extra innings.
In the eighth inning with the international tie-breaker rule enforced, WCUPA brought home three runs to pull in front 6-3. In the bottom half of the inning, Truppi singled home a run for the final 6-4 score.
Truppi went 1-3 in the game with two RBIs.
Reliever Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the loss (1-2) in one and 1/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) laid down a squeeze bunt to bring home Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.).
The Bears scored runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings en route to the 3-1 win.
Fitzgerald went 2-4 with a run scored.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) took the loss (1-4) in four innings of work, allowing two runs on five hits.
Following the losses, Dominican now stands at 5-6 on the season.
