LADY CHARGERS SPLIT ON FINAL DAY AT NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER GAMES
Clermont, Fla (3/18/17) The Dominican College softball team split on their final day at the National Training Center Games. Dominican fell in the opening game, 6-2, to Hillsdale College, but rallied to upend Indiana University of Pennslyvania, 2-1, in nine innings to finish the trip with a 6-7 overall record.

Clermont, Fla (3/18/17) The Dominican College softball team split on their final day at the National Training Center Games. Dominican fell in the opening game, 6-2, to Hillsdale College, but rallied to upend Indiana University of Pennslyvania, 2-1, in nine innings to finish the trip with a 6-7 overall record.
Game One: Hillsdale scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Dominican answered right back with a run in the bottom frame as second basemen Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) hit a solo home run over the centerfield fence.
HC would score a run in the second and fourth innings to regain a 3-1 edge. Dominican brought home a run in the bottom of the fourth as sophomore Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) hit a blast to left center field to cut the deficit to 3-2. Hillsdale added runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the 6-2 win.
Daniels finished the game with two hits.
Junior Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) suffered the loss (1-4) in four innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits.
Game Two: The Crimson Hawks took the early 1-0 lead and held that lead until the sixth inning when right fielder Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) scored on an error which allowed Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) to reach first base.
Dominican scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning as Ledgerwood hit a sacrifice fly ball to centerfield which brought home Daniels.
Luzetsky had two hits in the win, while Ledgerwood had two RBIs.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) improved to 2-2 in one and 1/3 innings of relief. Starter Joines went seven and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on seven hits.
