Bloomfield, N.J. (3/30/17) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) from host, Bloomfield College, in games played today at Clarks Pond South. Dominican won the first game, 10-6 and took the second game by the score of 5-4.

Bloomfield, N.J. (3/30/17) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) from host, Bloomfield College, in games played today at Clarks Pond South. Dominican won the first game, 10-6 and took the second game by the score of 5-4.
Game One: The Lady Chargers opened the game with three runs in the first as shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) got a two out single to bring home all three runs. DC added two more runs in the third on a two-run single off the bat of centerfield Alexandra Pannuto (New Paltz, N.Y.) and scored three more in the fourth on the three-run blast to left field from Regan to make the score 8-4.
Ahead 8-5, Dominican scored a run in the sixth as Regan collected her second home run of the day and added a run in the seventh on the sacrifice fly ball by Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) for the final 10-6 win.
Regan went 3-4 in the game with three runs scored and a career high 7 runs batted in.
Game Two: DC led 4-0 after two innings of play in the night cap as they recorded a run in the first on the RBI single up-the-middle from senior Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.). In the second inning, Fitzgerald doubled to left center to score a run and Collins followed with a two-run double to left centerfield.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the seventh as left fielder Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) singled to centerfield to bring home a run for the final 5-4 score.
The Dominican offense recorded 12 hits in the game, with Collins and Pannuto recording three hits each.
Junior Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) got the complete game victory, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and three strikeouts.
With the wins, Dominican improves to 9-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
