DOMINICAN SPLITS WITH WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
New Castle, Del. (4/2/17) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Wilmington University, in games played this afternoon at Asbury Field. The Lady Chargers took game one, 4-1, but fell in the nightcap, 4-0.

New Castle, Del. (4/2/17) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Wilmington University, in games played this afternoon at Asbury Field. The Lady Chargers took game one, 4-1, but fell in the nightcap, 4-0.
Game One: The Wildcats held a 1-0 lead until the top of the third when the Lady Charger offense exploded with four runs. A fielding error allowed the first run to come home and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) followed with an RBI single through the right side. Two batters later, freshman Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) produced a two-run double to centerfield to claim a 4-1 lead.
The final four innings would go scoreless to give the Lady Chargers the victory.
Ledgerwood had two hits and two RBIs, while Collins finished with two hits.
Junior Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) got the complete game victory (4-5), allowing one run on seven hits.
Game Two: Wilmington jumped out to the 4-0 advantage with four runs in the top of the first and never looked back en route to the win.
The lone Lady Charger hit of the game was recorded by shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.).
Starter Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) took the loss (2-1).
Following the split, Dominican now stands at 10-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
