LADY CHARGERS TAKE ONE FROM PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/3/17) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Philadelphia University, in games played today at the Philadelphia University Softball Field. Dominican won the opener, 7-4, but fell in the second game, 4-2.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/3/17) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Philadelphia University, in games played today at the Philadelphia University Softball Field. Dominican won the opener, 7-4, but fell in the second game, 4-2.
Game One: The Lady Chargers got on the scoreboard in the top of the first as Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to bring home as freshman Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) to take the 1-0 lead.
The Rams used a run in the first and added three in the second to claim a 4-1 lead. Dominican got two runs back in the fourth as a double to left field off the bat of shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and went ahead in the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles from Collins and third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.Y.) to pull head, 5-4.
Dominican increased their lead to 7-4 in the seventh on the two-run double to center from Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.). Philadelphia got a run back in the bottom of the seventh for the final 7-5 score.
Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) picked up the win in five innings of relief (3-0), allowing one run on five hits and striking out six.
Regan finished with three hits and two RBIs.
Collins and Ledgerwood each had two hits and two runs batted in.
Game Two: Dominican once again got on the scoreboard in their first at-bat of the contest. Collins recorded the RBI ground out and Gilligan followed with an RBI double to center for the 2-0 lead.
Philadelphia countered with two runs in the bottom of the first, taking advantage of back-to-back Lady Charger fielding errors. The Rams added two more runs in the third jump ahead 4-2 and went on to the win.
Reliever Jenna Maska (Warren, Ma.) took the loss (2-2) in 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits.
With the split, the Lady Chargers now stand at 11-10 overall and 4-2 in the CACC.
