DOMINICAN SHUTS OUT GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/11/17) The Dominican College softball team shut out the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 5-0 and 2-0, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/11/17) The Dominican College softball team shut out the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 5-0 and 2-0, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Chargers scored five unearned runs. An error allowed Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) to reach base and a run to come home. Two batters later, designated player Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) deliverd a grand slam home run over the right field fence to lift DC to a 5-0 lead.
Centerfielder Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) had two hits in the win.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) pitched her third shut out of the season (5-3), allowing four hits and striking out three batters.
Game Two: Dominican got on the scoreboard in the third inning as Collins's fielder's choice allowed a run to score.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the fifth inning as Luzetsky singled to left field to plate Alexandra Pannuto (New Paltz, N.Y.) for the 2-0 lead and win.
Junior Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) recorded the shut out win (3-3), scattering just two hits over seven innings and striking out four.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 15-13 overall and 7-4 in CACC play.
