Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/12/17) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header, 8-0 and 4-0, this afternoon over the Nyack College Warriors in games played at the South Orangetown Little League Field.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/12/17) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header, 8-0 and 4-0, this afternoon over the Nyack College Warriors in games played at the South Orangetown Little League Field.
Game One: The Lady Charger offense wasted no time as they scored five runs in the top of the first. Third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) brought home the first run on a ground out and two batters later junior Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) delivered a run-scoring double. Later Alexandra Pannuto (New Paltz, N.Y.) drew a bases loaded walk to score a run and senior Arianna Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a two-run single up-the-middle for the 5-0 lead.
Dominican added to the lead in the second frame as catcher Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) hit a two out two-run home run to increase the lead to 7-0.
An RBI single from right fielder Victoria Brooks (Bear, Del.) in the seventh gave DC the 8-0 lead.
Brooks finished with two hits in the win.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) got the complete game shut out win (6-3), scattering four hits and striking out batters.
Game Two: Dominican scored two runs in the second to open the scoring in the night cap on an RBI single up-the-middle from senior Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) and the run-scoring single to left field from Trembone for the 2-0 lead.
The Lady Chargers added to the lead in the third as Ledgerwood hit an RBI double and Regan followed with an RBI single for a 4-0 advantage.
Truppi went 2-3 in the win with an RBI and a run scored.
Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) improved to 4-3 in the win, scattering five hits and striking out seven.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 18-13 overall and 10-4 in CACC play.
