SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH PACE UNIVERSITY
Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. (4/30/17) The Dominican College softball squad split a non-conference double-header with host, Pace University, in games played today at Pace Field. Dominican fell in the opener, 4-1, but took the second game 3-1.

Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. (4/30/17) The Dominican College softball squad split a non-conference double-header with host, Pace University, in games played today at Pace Field. Dominican fell in the opener, 4-1, but took the second game 3-1.
Game One: In the opener Pace led 3-0 after three innings of play, but the Lady Chargers got on the board in the top of the fourth on the run-scoring single to left field from third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.).
The Setters got the run back in the bottom frame for the 4-1 lead and eventual win.
Gilligan and out fielder Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) each had two hits in the loss.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa) suffered the complete game loss (5-11), allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and six strikeouts.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers oepend the scoring in the third inning with a run on a dropped fly ball and added two more in the fourth on the two-run blast to right center field from catcher Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) to take a 3-0 lead.
The Setters got on the scoreboard in the sixth on the RBI single for the 3-1 final.
Fitzgerald finished with three hits, while Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) added two hits.
Ledgerwood led the team with two runs batted in.
Starter Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) improved to 8-4 on the season after going five and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) recorded her third save of the season, in one and 1/3 innings.
With the split, Dominican is now 26-19 overall on the season.
