LADY CHARGERS END SEASON WITH LOSSES ON DAY TWO OF CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lakewood, N.J. (5/6/17) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games today on the second day of the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and were eliminated from the tournament. Dominican fell to #1 Caldwell University, 10-3, in their first game of the day and lost to #7 Philadelphia University, 6-1.

Lakewood, N.J. (5/6/17) The Dominican College softball squad lost two games today on the second day of the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and were eliminated from the tournament. Dominican fell to #1 Caldwell University, 10-3, in their first game of the day and lost to #7 Philadelphia University, 6-1.
Game One: Dominican struck first with a run in their first at-bat as senior left fielder Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) led off the game with a home run over the center field fence.
The Cougars responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and added a run in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Dominican's offense countered in the fourth as third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) produced an RBI single to right field and designated player Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) followed with the squeeze bunt that brought home shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) to tie the game at 3-3.
The bottom of the fifth saw the Cougars score seven runs on seven hits and run error to jump ahead 10-3.
Regan finished with two hits in the loss.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the loss (10-6) in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Game Two: The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth when the Rams scored four runs and added two more in the fifth to claim a 6-0 lead.
DC got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh when Regan hit the RBI groundout.
Paride suffered the loss (10-7) in 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and three strikeouts.
With the loss, Dominican ends their season with an overall record of 29-22.
