LADY CHARGERS SUFFER TWO LOSSES
Kissimmee, Fla. (2/24/18) The Dominican College softball team lost two games this afternoon at the Citrus Classic I being played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. DC fell to the University of North Georgia, 2-0, and ended the day with a 5-4 loss to Columbus State University.

Kissimmee, Fla. (2/24/18) The Dominican College softball team lost two games this afternoon at the Citrus Classic I being played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. DC fell to the University of North Georgia, 2-0, and ended the day with a 5-4 loss to Columbus State University.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Nighthawks struck for a run on an error. UNG followed with a run in the fifth on a RBI double to let field for the eventual 2-0 win.
Freshman Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) and sophomore Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) recorded the two Lady Charger hits. Fitzgerald hit a double and a stolen base in the loss.
Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) suffered the loss (0-1) in six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits.
Game Two: The Cougars struck for two runs in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Chargers rallied with two runs in the bottom frame as designated player Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) blasted a two-run home run.
CSU countered with three runs in the top of the third innng to re-claim the 5-2 advantage. The Lady Chargers added two runs in the bottom of the fifth when Fitzgerald recorded the run-scoring ground out and Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) drew a bases loaded walk to bring the team within a run.
Reliever Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the loss (0-2) in four and 2/3 innings of relief, allowing three runs on six hits and three strikeouts.
Dominican (0-4) will take on Wheeling Jesuit University for a non-conference double-header tomorrow.
