SOFTBALL TAKES ONE FROM LIONS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/18/18) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University in games played this afternoon on the DC Softball Field. GCU won the first game, 4-2 while the Lady Chargers took the second contest, 6-4.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/18/18) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University in games played this afternoon on the DC Softball Field. GCU won the first game, 4-2 while the Lady Chargers took the second contest, 6-4.
Following today's games the Lady Chargers are now 15-13 overall and 12-6 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the second when junior Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) led off the inning with a solo home run over the centerfield fence. GCU countered in the third with a two-run shot to center for the 2-1 advantage.
GCU added runs in the fifth and sixth innings, while DC scored a run in the bottom of the sixth as freshman Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Md.) delivered a run-scoring single to centerfield for the final 4-2 score.
Bowe finished the game with two hits.
Junior Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) took the loss (9-6), allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and 10 strikeouts.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers scored a run in the first on the RBI double down the left field line off the bat of sophomore Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) and added two more in the second as catcher Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) hit a two-run homer over the right centerfield fence to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Lions scored two runs in the third and added two more in the fifth to gain a 4-3 edge. In the bottom half of the inning, designated player Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) hit a two out two-run home run to center field and Bowe later produced a run-scoring single to left field to re-take a 6-4 lead and eventual win.
Bowe and Siess both had two hits in the game, while Siess and Luzetsky finished with two RBIs each.
Reliever Paride picked up the win (10-6) in 2 1/3 innings of relief, scattering one hit and collecting five strikeouts.
The Lady Chargers are scheduled to be back in action this coming Saturday when they travel to Holy Family University.
