LADY CHARGERS WIN TWO AGAINST SPARTANS
Sparkill, N.Y. (4/24/18) The Dominican College women's softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, in games played this afternoon at Spartan Field. Dominican won the opener, 9-2 and took game two by the score of 6-4.

Sparkill, N.Y. (4/24/18) The Dominican College women's softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, in games played this afternoon at Spartan Field. Dominican won the opener, 9-2 and took game two by the score of 6-4.
Game One: The game was scorless until the fourth inning when the Lady Chargers struck for two runs on the ground-ruled double off the bat of junior Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) DC added five mroe runs in the fifth on the two-run single from Jill Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.), two Spartan errors and an RBI from designated player Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) on a pop up that extended the lead to 7-0.
STAC got a run back in the sixth inning, but DC added two more in their half of the seventh on a passed ball and RBI ground out from Siess to make the score 9-1. The Spartans added a run in their final at-bat for the 9-2 final.
Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) went 3-3 with three runs scored, while Regan went 3-4 with two RBIs. Gilligan also had a team leading three RBIs.
Sara Gideon (Hudson, Ohio) improved to 2-1 on the season with the win, pitching six innings.
Game Two: Dominican wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they posted a three-run top of the first as Gilligan blasted a three-run home run over the left field fence.
The Spartans scored two runs in the third, but DC added a run in the fourth on the run-scoring single to right field from GeorgieRose Super (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and added two more in the fifth on the two-run blast off the bat of Siess to extend the lead to 6-2. STAC scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final 6-4 score.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) picked up in four innings of relief (11-7) allowing two runs on six hits.
Gilligan recorded two hits, scored two runs and had three RBIs. Shortstop Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) also had two hits in the win.
The Lady Chargers are scheduled to be in action tomorrow at conference opponent, Felician University.
