LADY CHARGERS TAKE ONE IN SPLIT WITH RAMS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/29/18) The Lady Chargers split a conference doubleheader with the Rams of Jefferson University on Sunday. Dominican fell in game one by a score of 6-4 in twelve innings and bounced back to take game two by a score of 8-0. Dominican improved their record to 22-16 (16-8 CACC) and the Rams are now 17-21 (13-13 CACC) on the season.
Game One: The game went scoreless through the first three innings. Dominican opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning when Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) recorded the first run of the game with a sacrifice bunt. Dominican took the 1-0 lead into the seventh inning. The Rams rallied to tie the game when Courtney Wensel hit an RBI single to send the game into extra innings.
In the ninth inning, Emily Williams gave the Rams a 2-1 led with an RBI double. The Lady Chargers answered in the bottom of the ninth inning when Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) singled in a run to tie the game at 2-2.
The Rams regained the lead in the top of the eleventh inning and Dominican answered again in the bottom of the eleventh to send the game to the twelfth inning tied 3-3. In the twelfth inning, Stephanie Pepper hit a three-run homer to give the Rams a 6-3 lead. The Lady Chargers cut the deficit to 6-4 when Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) hit an RBI double, but the Rams secured the 6-4 win in game one.
Stephanie Pepper earned the win for the Rams to improve her record to 11-7 on the season. Pepper pitched all twelve innings and recorded eleven strikeouts. Sara Gedeon (Hudson, Ohio) started for the Lady Chargers and recorded five strikeouts over 6.1 innings.
Game Two: Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) took the mound in game two for the Lady Chargers and earned the win to improve 6-4 on the season. Maska recorded four strikeouts and did not allow a run in the win. Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) recorded an RBI single.
Dominican extended their lead to 4-0 when Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) and Siess hit back to back RBI doubles. Luzetsky followed with an RBI to complete the scoring for Dominican in the fourth inning.
Dominican secured the win in the fifth inning with four more runs and extended their lead out to 8-0. Taylor Daniels (Watervliet, N.Y.) and Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded RBI doubles in the inning and Gilligan finished the game with a two-run homer to cap off the 8-0 win in game two.
The Lady Chargers will play their final doubleheader of the regular season on Monday, April 30th when they host the Cougars of Caldwell University. Game one is scheduled for 2:30 PM and game two is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
