LADY CHARGERS SPLIT WITH JEFFERSON
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/6/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Jefferson, in games played this afternoon at the Jefferson Softball Field. The Rams hung on for the 9-7 opener in game one, while the Lady Chargers brought home the 3-1 win in game two.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/6/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Jefferson, in games played this afternoon at the Jefferson Softball Field. The Rams hung on for the 9-7 opener in game one, while the Lady Chargers brought home the 3-1 win in game two.
With the split, Dominican is now 12-15 overall and 9-5 in the CACC.
Game One: The Rams led 3-0 after three innings of play when junior first basemen Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) hit her first of two home runs in the game over the centerfield fence. Jefferson countered with a five-run bottom of the fourth inning to pull in infront 8-1.
In the top of the fifth, catcher Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) brought home a run on a single up-the-middle and Siess followed two batters later with her second homer, this one a three-run shot over the left field fence to cut the lead to 8-5.
After the Rams added to the lead in the bottom of the sixth, Dominican scored two runs on back-to-back hits from senior Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) and sophomore Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) for the final 9-7 score.
Bowe went 4-4 in the game with three stolen bases, while Siess went 2-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
Freshman Madeline Uschock (Greensburg, Pa.) took the loss in 4 2/3 innings of work, allowing nine runs (four earned) on 12 hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: Jefferson held a 1-0 advantage after three innings when the Lady Chargers tied the game in the fourth on the RBI ground out from Luzetsky. Luzetsky added a second run batted in as she singled to left field in the top of the sixth to plate Shannon Knipl (Stony Point, N.Y.) and claim a 2-1 lead.
Designated player Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) extended the lead to 2-1 in the top of the seventh with her second home run of the year.
Bowe collected two hits and two stolen bases in the nightcap, with Luzetsky picking up two RBI.
Dominican is scheduled to travel to non-conference opponent, the University of Bridgeport this coming Tuesday.
