LADY CHARGERS TAKE ONE FROM CLIPPERS
Bronxville, N.Y. (4/24/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Concordia College in games played this afternoon on Clipper Field. Concordia won the first game, 3-1 while the Lady Chargers brought home a 10-9 win in the night cap.

Bronxville, N.Y. (4/24/19) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Concordia College in games played this afternoon on Clipper Field. Concordia won the first game, 3-1 while the Lady Chargers brought home a 10-9 win in the night cap.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Concordia scored a run on a double and followed with two runs on a Lady Charger throwing error for the 3-0 lead.
DC scored a run in the sixth as Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) on a wild pitch to make the score 3-1.
First basemen Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) reocrded two hits in the game.
Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) took the loss (9-4), allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits.
Game Two: Dominican scored two runs on the first as Miscia hit a single to score a run and a Clipper error on the play allowed another run to come home. Concordia countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and scored two more runs in the second to take a 4-2 lead.
The Lady Chargers tied the score in the third on the RBI double off the bat of Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) and the sacrifice fly ball from Miscia, but the Clippers regained the lead with a five-run fourth inning to jump ahead 9-4.
DC rallied in the top of the fifth with six runs on five hits and one error. Catcher Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) got the scoring going as she drew the bases loaded walk and two batters later Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) delivered a two-run single to centerfield. Senior Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) added a single up-the-middle which brought in two runs and later Siess scored on a wild pitch to go in front 10-9.
Luzetsky went 5-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Shannon Knipl (Stony Point, N.Y.) went 3-4. Miscia and Kraft each had two RBI in the win.
Senior Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) got the win in one inning of relief, while Smith picked up her second save of the season.
With the split, Dominican is now 21-18 overall and 16-8 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are scheduled to host Queens College in a non-conferenc double-header this coming Friday at the DC Softball Field.
