SOFTBALL DEFEATS EDINBORO, BUT FALLS TO NORTHERN STATE
Clermont, Fla. (3/12/20) The Dominican College softball team defeated Edinboro University, 6-2, but fell to Northern State University, 6-2, today in non-conference games played at The Spring Games.

Clermont, Fla. (3/12/20) The Dominican College softball team defeated Edinboro University, 6-2, but fell to Northern State University, 6-2, today in non-conference games played at The Spring Games. DC improved to 6-3 after the win over Edinboro and then fell to 6-4 overall after their game two loss.
Game One: Edinboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead over DC in the first inning. The Lady Chargers scored six unanswered runs on their way to the 6-2 win. DC got on the board in the fourth inning and then tied the game in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning, DC rallied for four runs to secure the win.
Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.), Bailey Bell (Washington, Pa.), and Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) each recorded two hits in the game. Alyssa Seiss (Queens, N.Y.) hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to help extend the lead. Miscia added two RBI in the game while Fitzgerald contributed one RBI.
Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) earned the win by pitching a complete seven innings to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Jolene Teller drobve in the only two runs for Edinboro and recorded two hits including a double.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers scored two runs early in the game, one in the first inning and one in the second inning. Northern State got on the board in the sixth inning.
Northern State trailed by one run heading to the seventh inning. Northern State rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-2 lead over DC. Northern State secured the win after shutting down DC in the seventh inning.
Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) recorded three hits and scored one run for DC. Bailey Bell and Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) each recorded two hits. Samantha Fitzgerald and Bell each recorded one RBI.
For Northern State, Kaitlyn King recorded three hits and three RBI. Jen Martin recorded two hits and two RBI. Martin and King each hit homers in the win. Shayla Steinley and Madison Rutter each recorded two hits.
Makenzie Merritt earned the win for Northern State on seven innings pitched to improve to 2-0 on the season.
