Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/25/21) The Dominican College softball team split a conference doubleheader with the Felician University Golden Falcons.
Felician outlasted Dominican 10-8 in 10 innings to take game one. The Lady Chargers bounced back in game two to win 6-5.
The Lady Chargers now hold a record of 3-7 (3-1 CACC) and Felician is now 2-10 (2-4 CACC) on the season.
Game One: The Lady Chargers' comeback fell short in game one. The Golden Falcons held a 6-0 lead before DC answered back with eight unanswered runs between the fourth and sixth innings.
The Golden Falcons came back to tie the game in the seventh inning with two runs to send the game into extra innings.
The game remained tied until the 10th inning with Felician scored two runs which helped secure the win in game one.
Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) had a homer and two RBI in the game. Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) went 3 for 4 with one RBI and a run scored. Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) added two hits including a double and an RBI. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) and Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each added two hits. Schwalb added an RBI.
Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) added one hit and one RBI while Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) recorded one hit, one run scored, one RBI, and a team-high three walks.
Mia Martinez went 3 for 6 with four runs scored and two RBI. Nicole Spiegelberg added three hits, three runs scored, and three RBI.
Sam Melendez and Daisha Howard each added two RBI while Krystina Lorch added one RBI.
Game Two: The Golden Falcons jumped out in front early for the second consecutive game. The Lady Chargers answered back with four straight runs to tie the game 4-4.
Felician regained the lead in the fifth inning. DC completed the comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-5 lead and held on for the win in game two.
Rajene Bowe recorded two hits including a triple, two runs scored, and two RBI. Haylee Redmond Ridge went 3 for 3 including a double and one RBI.
Rebecca Haggerty finished with two hits including a double and one run scored. Madison Walker, Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.), and Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) all added one RBI.
DC will be back in action on Saturday, March 27th when they host Holy Family University. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 2:00 PM.
