LADY CHARGERS TAKE TWO FROM CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/18/21) The Dominican College softball team earned a sweep over the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College. DC took game one by a score of 3-0 and completed the sweep with a 9-3 win in game two.
The Lady Chargers improve to 13-9 (12-2 CACC) and Chestnut Hill falls to 1-19 (1-15 CACC).
Game One: Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) earned the shutout win and recorded nine strikeouts. Smith improves to 5-3 on the season.
DC recorded seven total hits in the win. Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) recorded a team-high three hits which included a double. Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) and Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) each recorded a double and one RBI.
Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) added a hit and an RBI.
For the Griffins, Lily Reid and Madison Petroski each recorded two hits. Devon Horner added one hit.
DC scored the game's first run in the third inning when Redmond Ridge recorded an RBI double. DC added two insurance runs in the sixth inning when Haggerty drove in a run with a double and Newman drove in the third run with a single.
Game Two: Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) recorded the win for DC in game two. Limardo pitched five innings and earned four strikeouts to help her earn her seventh win of the season.
Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded three hits including a double, two RBIs, and scored three runs. Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) had two hits and three RBIs. Walker added a double and a home run.
Haylee Redmond Ridge and Rebecca Haggerty added two hits each. Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Madison Newman each added one RBI.
For Chestnut Hill, Madison Petroski and Samantha Toro added two hits each. Victoria Grillo drove in two RBIs. Nadine Arredondo added one RBI.
The Griffins took an early lead in the first inning with two runs on the RBI single by Grillo. DC added one run in the bottom of the first.
DC took the lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Madison Newman. The Lady Chargers added three runs in the fourth inning including an RBI double by Schwalb.
Madison Walker cracked a three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Griffins added one run in the seventh inning, but the Lady Chargers secured the 9-3 win.
DC will be back in action on Tuesday, April 20th when they host Post University for a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 2:30 PM and game two will follow at 4:30 PM.
