Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/20/21) The Dominican College softball team split a conference doubleheader with Post University. DC fell to the Eagles 5-3 in game one and bounced back to take game two by a score of 4-0.
After the split, the Lady Chargers now hold a record of 14-10 (13-3 CACC). The Eagles now hold a record of 10-6 (10-6 CACC).
Game One: The Eagles opened the doubleheader with a comeback victory over the Lady Chargers.
Bridget Betley earned the win and improved to 4-3 on the season.
Kasey Jusino led the way with three hits including two doubles and two RBIs. Alexa Pacy finished with two hits and two RBIs. Allyson Wallauer added one hit and one RBI.
For Dominican, Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) recorded three hits. Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) added a solo homer in the fourth inning. Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) added two hits and two RBIs.
Newman's single put the Lady Chargers on top 2-0 in the first inning. The Eagles got on the board when Alexa Pacy drove in their first run of the game.
Siess homered in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the DC lead to 3-1.
Post cut the deficit to 3-2 when Alexa Pacy drove in her second run of the game. Kasey Jusino's two-RBI double put the Eagles on top 4-3 in the seventh inning and Allyson Wallauer's RBI single extended the lead to 5-3 to help complete the comeback win.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers bounced back in game two to earn a split with the Eagles.
Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) earned the shutout win to improve her record to 8-2 on the season. Limardo surrendered only three hits in the win.
DC scored two runs in the second inning and added two runs in the fourth inning.
Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) recorded three RBIs on two hits including a single in the second inning and a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Madison Newman added an RBI single in the win. Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) added two hits and Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added one hit.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action Thursday, April 22nd when they visit Nyack College for a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM and game two will follow at 4:00 PM.
