Caldwell, N.J. (4/28/21) The Dominican College softball team split a conference doubleheader with the Cougars of Caldwell University.
The Cougars took game one by a score of 8-0 in six innings and the Lady Chargers bounced back to take game two 5-1.
The Lady Chargers now hold a record of 18-12 (17-5 CACC). The Cougars now stand at 18-9-1 (15-9 CACC).
Game One: The Cougars opened the doubleheader with an 8-0 win in six innings. Mariah Culver earned the win to improve to 11-4 on the season. Culver recorded five strikeouts in six innings.
Chloe VanGorder drove in four RBIs and added a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
Courtney Grundhauser added two hits including a triple and scored three runs. Lauren Stansell, Anyssia Ramirez, and Paige Sandoval all added one RBI.
Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) and Shannon Knipl (Stony Point, N.Y.) each recorded two hits. Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.), Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.), and Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) added one hit each.
Game Two: DC bounced back in game two with a 5-1 win to earn a split with the Cougars.
Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) recorded the win to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Rajene Bowe led the way with three hits including a double and two RBIs. Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) recorded two hits including a home run in the third inning.
Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) added two hits and one RBI. Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Madison Newman also added two hits each. Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) added one hit and one RBI.
For the Cougars, Emma Cooney recorded a team-high two hits. Paige Sandoval added a home run in the fifth inning.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Thursday, April 29th when they travel to Wilmington University for a conference doubleheader with the Wildcats. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM and game two is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
