Winter Haven, Fla. (3/17/22) The Dominican College softball team played a doubleheader in Winter Haven, Florida against Bentley University and Bloomsburg University.
The Lady Chargers fell in both games of the doubleheader. DC dropped game one 6-0 to Bentley and fell 7-1 to the Huskies.
Game One: The Lady Chargers dropped game one of the doubleheader to Bentley University by a score of 6-0.
Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) took the hill for DC and pitched a complete seven innings but suffered the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season.
Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) and Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) each recorded two hits for the Lady Chargers. Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) added one hit.
Bentley took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Bentley added to their lead with two runs in the sixth inning and then two more runs in the seventh inning to secure the 6-0 win.
Elise Pereira recorded the win for Bentley to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Katie Welch, Kaylee Mankins, and Morgan Fraitzl each drove in one RBI. Kaileen Cain drove in two RBIs.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers fell in game two to the Huskies of Bloomsburg University 7-1.
The Huskies jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the first two innings of the game. Danielle Barnes drove in the first two runs with a single in the first inning. Sammi Starr followed with a three-run homer in the second inning for the 5-0 lead.
The Huskies added one run in the fourth inning and one run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 7-0.
DC added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) homered to get the Lady Chargers on the board.
Lopez also added a double in the game. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) each added one hit.
DC will look to bounce back on Friday, March 18th when they play a doubleheader against Le Moyne College. Game one is scheduled for 1:30 PM and game two will follow at 3:45 PM.
