The Lady Chargers fell to Washburn University by a score of 2-1 in game one and then defeated Gannon University game two to earn a split.
The Lady Chargers now hold an overall record of 2-6 on the season.
Game One: Dominican fell to Washburn University 2-1 in the first game. Emily Baxter (Bucoda, WA) started on the mound for Dominican and recorded two strikeouts over six innings of work.
Jaycee Ginter took the mound for Washburn and recorded the win over seven innings pitched.
Jalaeya LaPorte (Sylmar, Calif.) added a double and finished the game 2-3. Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) also finished game 2-3 while Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) added two hits and drove in the only run of the game for Dominican.
Washburn got on the board in the first inning when Paige Robbins scored on an error. Dominican tied the game in the third inning after Salcido's RBI-single.
Washburn regained the lead in the fourth inning after Kimi Patterson's RBI-single and the score would remain 2-1 the rest of the way.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers bounced back in game two against Gannon University with a 9-1 victory in five innings.
Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) started the game for Dominican and recorded her first win of the season after five strong innings and recorded five strikeouts.
Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) led the way with three hits including a triple. Miscia also scored three runs and drove in one RBI.
Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) finished the game 2-4 including an RBI-double and scored three runs. Giovanna Salcido and Jalaeya LaPorte each drove in two RBIs.
Madison Walker and Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) each drove in one RBI.
Dominican opened the game with two runs in the first inning and then extended to a 7-0 lead after a five-run second inning. Gannon got on the board in the third inning but Dominican added one run in the third inning and one run in the fifth inning to solidify the 9-1 victory.
Dominican's trip to Clermont, Fla continues tomorrow with a doubleheader. Dominican will begin the day against Minnesota State University Mankato at 2:00 PM and then will face Winona State University at 4:30 PM.
