SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/17/23) The Dominican University New York softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the visiting Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in games played this afternoon at the DUNY Softball Field. Dominican won the opener, 4-1, but fell in the nightcap, 11-4.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/17/23) The Dominican University New York softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the visiting Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in games played this afternoon at the DUNY Softball Field. Dominican won the opener, 4-1, but fell in the nightcap, 11-4.
Following the split, Dominican is now 3-11 overall on the season.
Game One: Shortstop Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) put the Lady Chargers on the scoreboard with a two-run single to left centerfield for the 2-0 advantage.
Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) extended the lead to 3-0 in third stanza with a solo homerun over the centerfield fence.
In the fifth inning, Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) increased the lead to 4-0 with the RBI single up-the-middle. SNHU scored a run in the sixth on a single through the right side for the final 4-1.
McIntosh went 2-3 in the game with two RBI.
Freshman Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) picked up the complete game win, striking out eight batters.
Game Two: SNHU scored three runs a-piece in the first and second innings to claim a 6-0 advantage.
Dominican cut the deficit to 6-2 in the third as Walker hit her second homerun of the day and Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) followed with a shot down the leftfield line.
The Penmen countered with four runs in fourth and added a run in the fifth to jump out to an 11-2 lead. Walker delievered her third homer of the day in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run shot over the right centerfield fence for what would be the final 11-4 score.
Walker went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI in the loss.
Starter Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) suffered the loss.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on the road at Wilmington University. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12pm.
