SOFTBALL FALLS TO WILDCATS
New Castle, Del. (3/18/23) The Dominican University New York softball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader to host Wilmington University in games played this afternoon at Asbury Field. The Wildcats won the first game, 9-1 (five innings) and took the nightcap by the score 11-3 (five innings.)

The Wildcats won the first game, 9-1 (five innings) and took the nightcap by the score 11-3 (five innings.)
Game One: The 'Cats led 1-0 after two innings of play before the Lady Chargers got on the scoreboard in the third stanza as catcher Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) hit an infield single that allowed a run to score. WilmU countered with four runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to re-take an 8-1 advantage. A run in fifth secured the 9-1 win.
Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) went 2-2 in the game.
Starter Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) took the complete game loss.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers got the scoring going early with a three-run first inning. Firstbasemen Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) hit an RBI single down the left field line and Salcido followed with a two-run home run over the right field fence.
The 'Cats answered back with four runs in the bottom half of the first inning and added runs in the second, third and fifth innings for the 11-3 victory.
Starter Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) suffered the loss.
Dominican (3-13, 0-2 CACC) is scheduled to return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to non-conference foe, East Stroudsburg University.
