SPARTANS TAKE TWO FROM LADY CHARGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/16/23) The Dominican University New York softball team lost a non-conference double-header to the visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in games played today at the South Orangetown Little League Field.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/16/23) The Dominican University New York softball team lost a non-conference double-header to the visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in games played today at the South Orangetown Little League Field.
Following the games Dominican now stands at 8-26 overall, while the Spartans improve to 18-13 on the season
Game One: The contest was scoreless through seven innings of play when STAC struck for a run in the top of the eighth with an RBI double for the 1-0 lead and eventual win.
Designated player Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) and Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) each had a hit in the loss.
Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) went the distance in the loss, while collecting 10 strikeouts.
Game Two: The Spartans struck for two runs in the top of the third inning, but Dominican countered in the bottom half of the inning with a two out two-run double off the bat of Walker.
STAC retook the lead in the fifth, but the Lady Chargers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-3 lead. Shortstop Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) delivered a two out two-run double to give her team the lead.
St. Thomas Aquinas College rallied with a four-run top of the seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run to take home the 7-4 win.
Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) and Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) had two hits a-piece, while McIntosh and Walker each had two RBIs.
Starter Raya suffered the complete game loss.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host the University of Bridgeport in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader.
