SOFTBALL RALLIES TO WIN GAME ONE IN SPLIT WITH GCU

Dominican earned a comeback victory in game one but were defeated in game two.
Dominican now holds a record of 9-31 overall and a CACC record of 5-15. The Lions now stand at 28-16 overall and 12-6 in conference play.
Game One: Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) and Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) combined for seven RBIs in the 8-7 comeback victory in game one of the doubleheader.
Salcido got the Lady Chargers on the board with a three-run home run in the first inning to give Dominican a 3-0 lead.
The Lions scored seven unanswered runs in the second, third, and fourth innings including a four run fourth inning.
Trailing 7-3, Walker smacked a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 7-5. Dominican entered the seventh inning trailing by two runs and the Lady Chargers rallied for three runs to take the lead.
Emma Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) led the top of the inning off with a double and Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) followed with a single.
McIntosh moved up to second on a passed ball and Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) delivered an RBI-single to cut the GCU lead to one run.
Walker singled for her second hit of the game and drove in her third RBI to tie the game. Salcido drove in the go ahead run to cap off the three-run seventh inning rally.
Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) held the Lions scoreless after giving up a lead off double but closed the door to complete the game one victory. Baxter threw a complete seven innings to earn her sixth win of the year.
Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) also added a double while Misica finished with two hits, three runs scored, and two walks.
Game Two: GCU bounced back in game two with a 9-1 win in five innings to solidify a split with Dominican.
The Lions scored two runs in the second inning to get on the board and extended the lead with five runs in the fourth inning. GCU finished off the game two victory with two runs in the fifth inning.
Taylor Lipkins finished with two hits including a double and drove in three RBIs. Kaitlyn Stufft finished with two doubles and two RBIs.
Jadalyn Rodriguez drove in two RBIs while Brittany Gable and Adriana Mungo each drove in one RBI.
Emma Kaszovitz drove in the only run of game two for the Lady Chargers and finished the game with two hits for a three hit day. Madison Walker added a single for her third hit of the day.
Janelle Blaszka was the winning pitcher for the Lions in game two and improved to 10-5 on the season. Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) was the starter for Dominican and suffered the game two loss.
The Lady Chargers return to action tomorrow when they travel to Thomas Jefferson University for a CACC doubleheader with the Rams beginning at 1:00 PM.
