(5/24/23) Seventy-nine (79) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Twelve (12) of the 13 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

New Haven, Conn. (5/24/23)  Seventy-nine (79) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Twelve (12) of the 13 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

Dominican University New York had one player named to the team as sophomore Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) earns her first All-Academic honors in 2023.

Both Post University and Thomas Jefferson University led the way with 12 honorees apiece on the squad. University of Bridgeport followed with 9 student-athletes making their way onto the academic unit.

The eight teams to make the postseason in the CACC combined to have 51 student-athletes make the academic squad and included Bloomfield College (5), UB (9), Caldwell University (8), Felician University (5), Georgian Court University (6), Goldey-Beacom College (6), Holy Family University (7), CACC Champion Wilmington University (5).

NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
♦ Six student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages (Alliance University's Janelle Adams, Felician's Madeline Layman, G-B's Chrissy Jordan, Jefferson's Winnai Hoyt, Post's Alyssa Hughes and Emily Tarko).

♦ Twenty (20) student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.

♦ Adams and Hoyt were named to the CACC Academic squad for the fourth time in their respective careers.

♦ Sixteen (16) were named to the CACC Softball All-Academic Team for the third time in their respective careers.

♦ Twenty-six (26) were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.

To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.
