KLUNK AND RELAY TEAM EARN VICTORIES AT CACC-ECC CHALLENGE
Lakewood, NJ (5/10/12) The Dominican College women's track and field squad wrapped up the 2012 season at the CACC-ECC Challenge held this past Friday at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. Senior Samantha Klunk won the steeplechase, while the 4x400 relay team of Renee Roncace, Jessica Avila, Ashley Hodges, and Amber Lacey took the top spot in that event.
Lakewood, NJ (5/10/12) The Dominican College women's track and field squad wrapped up the 2012 season at the CACC-ECC Challenge held this past Friday at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. Senior Samantha Klunk won the steeplechase, while the 4x400 relay team of Renee Roncace, Jessica Avila, Ashley Hodges, and Amber Lacey took the top spot in that event.
Klunk, who hails from York, PA, had a time of 12:09.98 in the steeplechase to win the event and miss her own school record time by seven seconds. She also ran in the 800m dash where she finished in 15th place with a time of 2:40.09.
The relay team won the event with a time of 4:19.75 and also set a new school record.
Keyla Cruz, a senior from the Bronx, NY, finished in fifth place in the 400m dash with a time of 1:10.19, while Lacey, a freshman from Mount Vernon, NY, took also finished in fifth place in the 100m dash with a time of 13:89.
Junior Sharrika Brent (Brooklyn, NY) ran the 100m dash in a time of 15.12 to finish in eighth place.
Roncace, a freshman from Valley Cottage, NY, finished seventh overall in the 800m event with a time of 2:28.03.
In the 200m dash, Lacey finished ninth with a time of 28.52, while Hodges took 11th place with a time of 29.12 and Brent finished 13th with a time of 30.68.
Freshman Brittany Austin (Highland Mills, NY) competed in two field events for the Lady Chargers and finished seventh overall in both the shot put with a throw of 9.22m and the discus with a thrwo of 32.60m.
