STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO VICTORY OVER POST UNIVERSITY
Waterbury, Conn. (1/23/13) The Dominican College women's basketball team rallied from a ten-point at halftime to defeat host, Post University, 65-61 this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match-up played at the Drubner Center. Following the win, DC improves to 11-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while Post falls to 9-10 overall and 7-5 in the CACC.

Following the win, DC improves to 11-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while Post falls to 9-10 overall and 7-5 in the CACC.
Tied at 8-all with 13:08 left in the first half, the Lady Chargers went on a 7-1 run to gain a 15-9 advantage. The Eagles would rally and with the score tied at 22-22, the fifth tie score of the half, closed out the half with a 13-3 tear to go ahead 35-25 at the intermission.
Senior Bianca Harris* (Teaneck, N.J.) paced Dominican with nine points in the first half.
Post maintained a lead for the first seven plus minutes of the second stanza, but a trey from senior guard Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, N.Y.) later re-tied the score at 46-46 with 12:55 on the clock. The Eagles regained a four-point lead (59-55) with 5:21 remaining, but Dominican charged back with an 8-1 run with five of those points coming from junior forward KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) and a three point basket from Lindsey Lopez* (Elmwood Park, N.J.) to go ahead 63-60 with under two minutes to play. A post free throw cut the lead to two points, but DC used a 2-4 performance from the charity stripe from Lopez and Jentzen to secure the 65-61 victory.
Jentzen had a career high 24 points, a night best four steals and nine rebounds in the victory.
Harris finished with the game's only double-double of 20 points (7-14 from the floor) and 11 rebounds. Lopez scored 13 points.
DC outscored Post 40-28 in the second half.
Dominican shot slightly better from the floor, 39.7% to Post's 39.3%, for the game and held a slim 42-41 advantage in rebounding.
The Lady Chargers will host the 12th Annual Suel Heller Memorial Basketball Game this Saturday at the Hennessy Center. Tip-off is set for 2pm against CACC opponent, Chestnut Hill College.
