LADY CHARGERS EARN WIN OVER NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/25/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team concluded the 2014 regular season with an 81-73 victory over the visiting Warriors of Nyack College on Senior Night at the Hennessy Center in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest.

Before the game, the team honored seniors KC Jentzen* (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Nicole Welton* (Southbury, Conn.)
The Lady Chargers open the game outscoring the Warriors 15-4 over the first six minutes. NC fought back to cut the deficit to a point (19-18) with under ten minutes to go, but a 19-9 charge by Dominican, capped off with back-to-back treys from Welton gave them their biggest lead of the half, 41-27. A three from Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) closed out the first hlaf scoring and made the score 44-33.
Dominican led by as many as 17 points at five different times in the second stanza before Nyack came back with 13 unanswered points to make the score 72-68 with under five minutes on the clock. Welton connected on her seventh three-point bucket of the game to give the Lady Chargers some breathing room as they went on to the 81-73 victory.
Welton netted a career high 21 points and tied her career high with seven three-point baskets (7-12 from the arc), while adding five rebounds and four assists.
Freshman Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 14 points (6-12 from the floor), while Jentzen grabbed a night best 12 rebounds.
Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) and Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) each scored nine points with Rywalt adding a team high five assists.
DC shot 43.5% (27-62) from the flor and shot 53.8% (14-26) from the three point arc in the contest.
Dominican will travel to Philadelphia University on Saturday in the opening round of the CACC Tournament. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
